FR Choose the right type of running shoes!

Your shoes and the shock-absorber can be worn-out after a year if you run 2 Ė 3 times a week.
Running shoes can handle up to 1500 kilometres before it is worn-out.

You should have 2-3 pair of running shoes you can alternate between if you run between 5-7 times in a week. Every pair wonít get so worn-out if you alternate, and you get a healthy variation of last, shock-absorber and stability. I personally alternate between 2 pairs of running/fitness shoes.

50 % is over pronating
Everybody has a different pronation. We can split them in three groups:
  • Over pronation
  • Under pronation
  • Normal pronation

Normal pronation is the movement from the heels outside against the big toe. Itís called over pronation if the movement inwards is too powerful. Itís called under pronation if the movement is too small.

Around 40 % normal pronates, 50 % over pronates and 10 % under pronates.

Researches shows that people with over pronation and under pronation are more exposed to injuries. Itís therefore extra important that you buy the right type of running shoes.

Itís important that you use shoes that is extra side stabile if your feet over pronates. This will limit the rotation movement so you can avoid unnecessary tearing and strain injuries.

Choose functionality before design
Many of us look at the design, colour and brand when we choose shoes. First of all you should think about how the shoes fit you, the stability and the shock-absorber.

Running shoes for easy jogging is called multitude training shoes. These shoes are shock-absorbing and higher in the heel than the front.
Every multitude training shoes has an additional shock-absorber for more stability.

The shoe producers have their own patent system for good additional shock-absorber. It doesnít matter if you choose Nike air, Asics gel, Mizuno Wave or other brands. The point is that the shoes shall fit you and your needs.

Pronation saves the foot
Your foot gets 2-3 times more pressure than you weight every time you set your foot down. Your feet couldn't handle that if you took the whole pressure with a slam. The foot therefore meets the support in the longest movement possible.
The outer part of the heel is the first to hit the ground, and then our foot turn the weight in an incline line towards the big toe. This movement has the same function when our knees fail after a jump. It shall spread the pressure over time. This movement is called pronation.

This came in very handy because I need to buy new running shoes. I've tried to get that done for about 4 weeks now. Thanks Mona!
